Rwanda’s growing interest in motorsport and tourism is about to leap a group of passionate Land Rover enthusiasts, led by Iliza Expeditions, for an exciting journey to the Land Rover Festival 2024 in Arusha, Tanzania.
Organized by Iliza Expeditions, this adventure goes beyond just a road trip—it’s part of a larger vision to foster a deeper appreciation for motor sport and tourism among Rwandans.
During a preparatory meeting on this Sunday, at Rubia Coffee Shop, Kimihurura, about a dozen Land Rover fans gathered to finalize plans for their October expedition.
United by their love for classic and vintage cars, the group discussed the road trip details and the excitement surrounding their upcoming adventure.
The CEO of Iliza Expeditions, Aimable Nsabumukiza, who also leads a newly established club for vintage car enthusiasts in Rwanda, is committed to promoting motor sport as both a cultural and tourism driver.
This aligns with Rwanda’s growing ambitions to position itself on the global motor sport map, including plans to potentially host a Formula One event in the future.
“We’re aiming to tap into the rising interest in motor sport, not only to attract international visitors but also to inspire more Rwandans to engage with this vibrant industry,” said the CEO of Iliza Expeditions.

As Rwanda continues to promote motor sport as a key part of its tourism strategy, the CEO of Iliza Expeditions views events like the Land Rover Festival and such expeditions as opportunities to showcase Rwanda’s breathtaking landscapes and adventurous spirit.
The goal is to encourage more Rwandans to engage in motor sport, while positioning Rwanda as a prime destination for international enthusiasts.
This initiative comes at a time when motor sport is gaining momentum in Rwanda, with government-backed projects to develop infrastructure and explore the potential for hosting international events like Formula One.
These efforts are creating new opportunities for enthusiasts, investors, and tourists alike.
Iliza Expeditions, through journeys such as the Arusha trip, is harnessing this momentum, blending the love for Land Rover vehicles with Rwanda’s vision of becoming a motor sport hub in Africa.
In the near future, Iliza Expeditions plans to bring similar events to Rwanda, offering Rwandans and international motor sport lovers an opportunity to experience these adventures in the heart of the country.
The team’s excitement for the journey is contagious, as they finalize trip details and rally behind the collective mission to highlight Rwanda’s potential as a leader in motor sport tourism.
Meanwhile, players in the industry are recommending that there be a consideration for importers of vintage cars to facilitate high-end tourism, and targeted motorsport tourism.
