Shopkeepers in Kabarore town in Gatsibo district are in panic mode following an ongoing search for fake products, expired products and other fraudulent merchandise on shelves, Taarifa reliably reports.

Gatsibo District Mayor, Richard Gasana, is on a mission to dismantle dumping of prohibited goods, joined by officials from Rwanda Revenue Authority, detectives from Rwanda Investigations Bureau and members of District Administration Security Support Organ (Dasso).

The Mayor and his team all masked are moving from shop to shop and randomly scrutinising every item on shelves.

“They are checking for expiry dates, S-marks and authenticity of products we are selling,” a trader in Kabarore town told Taarifa on condition of anonymity.

This operation code named Operation FAGIA-OPSONV has been prepared by Rwanda Investigations Bureau.
