Nyabihu District Vice-mayor in charge of the Economic Development, Jean Claude Habanabakize, encouraged farmers to grow more Irish potatoes now that factory is functional.
The construction of the Nyabihu potato processing factory as well as equipment cost Rwf780 million.
The plant targets to process 500 kilograms of Irish potatoes in 1 hour.
The factory also manufactures chips.
It opened in 2014 and halted its functions two years later.
