DRC, South Africa Strengthen Strategic Defence Capabilities

Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and South Africa are working on plans to strengthen copperation on strengthening Strategic Defence Capabilities.

Guy Kabombo Muadiamvita flew to South Africa on Monday for a 4-day working visit to strengthen and deepen bilateral defense relations between South Africa and the DRC.

Muadiamvita held talks with South African Defence Minister Angie Motshekga and senior military officials on key areas of defence cooperation and strengthening strategic defence capabilities between the two countries.

Minister Motshekga emphasized the importance of the defense partnership between South Africa and the DRC.

“Defense collaboration between South Africa and the DRC is of paramount importance, not only for our two countries, but also for the entire African continent. This partnership is crucial to fostering peace, security, and stability in the region,” said Minister Angie Motshekga.

The cooperation seeks to strengthen strategic and technical exchanges, with emphasis on the training of various units; special forces, rapid reaction units, air force and naval personnel, and the transfer of expertise in the defense industry.

The meeting agreed that both countries will continue with regular exchanges between experts from both sides, while organizing joint working sessions and joint exercises.
