DRC Army Confirms Killing Rwandan Rebel Leader

The Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC) confirmed Monday that it was behind an attack that extinguished a notorious Rwandan Warlord self-proclaimed General Kagoma.

Kagoma born Mpiranya Leo Cyprien has been the leader of the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR / Rud). He was eliminated during the violent clashes in Bukombo and Nyabanira in the territory of Rutshuru in North Kivu.

Major Guillaume Ndjike Kaiko, army spokesman, operational sector Sokola 2 confirmed that incidence saying that the FARDC elements neutralized this warlord and several others ” uncivil illegal holders of firearms”, while others voluntarily surrendered to the FARDC, without specifying the exact figure.

“These are operations that took place in two phases and on two axes. The Nyabanira axis and the Kitchanga axis. During these operations after heavy fighting which opposed the loyalist forces to these illegal holders of firearms, the FARDC managed to neutralize General Kagoma,” he explained.

According to insiders, Kagoma had replaced at the helm of the FDLR / Rud, Jean- Michel Africa who was neutralized a year ago.

Major Guillaume Ndjike Kaiko said that the Congolese army recovered several weapons and ammunition abandoned by the rebels and at the same time restored the authority of the State in this area long controlled by this Rwandan militia.

In October 2019, the DRC military launched “large-scale” military operations aimed at eliminating all local and foreign armed groups in the east of the country. The government had assured that in total 22,000 soldiers are deployed in this part of the country.

It is very important to kill that man who was a killer for long time. Many people from the region where he lived were suffered from his bad acts.
