Regional defence experts on Monday gathered in Goma, DRC to brainstom on coordination of operations of the East African joint force currently deploying in North Kivu with the aim of neutralising local and foreign armed groups operating there.
Lieutenant General Constant Ndima Kongba, the governor of the province of North Kivu chaired this meeting of Defense experts within the framework of the coordination of the operations of the Regional Force.
In his opening remarks, the provincial Governor welcomed the commitment of the States of the sub-region in the search for peace.
“Your presence here testifies to the will to implement the resolutions of the mini-summit of Heads of State held in Luanda and the talks in Nairobi which should lead to the recovery of the integrity of the Territory of our country”, said Lt.Gen.Constant Ndima.
He also hailed Angolan President Lourenco for his mediation efforts constantly demonstrated to resolve the crisis in eastern DRC.
The provincial Governor praised the degree of commitment of President William Ruto of Kenya as well as the facilitation by Uhuru Kenyatta that have spared no effort to put an end to the current security crisis in North Kivu.
The Defence experts were drawn from Burundi, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, South Sudan and those from the DRC. Monusco also attended.
