After a crash on stage 1 and the last place in stage 2, Caleb Ewan (Lotto-Soudal) bounced back to win stage 3 in a highly contested bunch gallop in Sisteron, beating Irish champion Sam Bennett of Deceuninck-Quick Step and European champion Giacomo Nizzolo of NTT Pro Cycling. Julian Alaphilippe retained the yellow jersey.

Caleb Ewan an Australian who started today with just five team-mates did an incredible sprint there to weave his way through a very busy bunch and beat Sam Bennett (Deceuninck-Quick Step) to the stage honours.

Meanwhile, Giacomo Nizzolo (NTT) the Italian and European road race champion peddled to the finish line in 3rd position today.

15km away from the finish line, Deceuninck-Quick Step(Sam Bennett), NTT (Giacomo Nizzolo), Bahrain-McLaren (Sonny Colbrelli) were all near the front, as were Cofidis (Elia Viviani). Can’t see Lotto-Soudal (Caleb Ewan) just yet, but sure they were hiding in the wheels.
