Burundi government leaders have been shocked by statements made by Pastor Deogratias Nshimiyimana saying that “God never tolerates leaders who abuse his people”.
Pastor Deogratias has called on the leaders in the isolated and volatile country to always vote the laws that put forward the general interest of the population so that God blesses the country.
The eloquent clergy made the remarks before President Evariste Ndayishimiye and other senior government officials including Vice-President, the President of the Senate, the Ombudsman and others.
President Maj. Gen. Evariste Ndayishimiye rose to the helm of Burundi after winning the May elections and was sworn in in June.
The regime of the late Pierre Nkurunziza was synonymous with draconian laws, extreme and unfriendly agenda that divided the country along ethnic line. For much of this time Maj. Gen. Evariste Ndayishimiye was a close ally and advisor to the late Nkurunziza.
Nkurunziza allegedly succumbed to heart failure just weeks after the polls were held.
