A week after announcing a reduction of its lending rates, Banque Populaire du Rwanda Plc (BPR), yesterday officially launched two brand new branches; one in Nyarugenge inside MIC Building, a merger of the Rubangura and Muhima branches, and another in GasaboDistrict inside KBC, a relocation of the Kacyiru Branch.

“This is part of a long journey to modernize and rationalize by revamping into a more future out looking image for BPR,” said the bank’s Managing Director Maurice Toroitich.

“Our bank’s relocation is to mainly offer our services in a convenient and inviting environment,” he said during the launch.

The two newly opened branches were inaugurated by Directors of the BPR board represented by Beatrice Hamza Bassey, the Managing Director, BPR’s executive committee members, shareholders representatives as well as clients.

Beatrice Hamza Bassey, representing the board chairman and Atlas Mara Group‘s General Counsel said that the reason for relocation was because there was a good business traffic and the banks’s market has outgrown the existing branches.

“As a Rwandan bank, we have to adjust to our clients’ needs,” she said.

“I personally remember my journey with BPR which started few years ago, with notable change in my finances, BPR has contributed a lot to my welfare and has been a bank that provides solutions,” said Pascal Gatare one of the client at the launch.
