Rwanda’s ‘most popular’ football club Rayon Sports is very broke. Its monster blue-white bus has been paraded for public auction because the club failed to pay all the money to claim the bus.
The club ordered for this 52-bus from Akagera Motors at a cost of Rwf100 million. Under their negotiations, the club was supposed to clear all payment by end of 2019.
Reports indicate that Rayon Sports owes AKagera Motors a balance of Rwf50 million. The supplier said they have put up the bus for auction because the club has faltered on an agreement they entered last year.
Last year, this bus suddenly broke down and remained packed on the road side for days along Kigali-Nyanza highway. It was later towed away to Akagera Motors for repair. The club and Akagera Motors later entered an agreement on how to pay the remaining amount but the club has since failed to live up to terms and conditions of the agreement.
Akagera Motors says it has no other option but to auction the bus and recover its money.
