Embattled Rwanda Cycling Federation President Aimable Bayingana and his entire committee that runs affairs of cycling in the country have resigned.
A source privy with internal matters of the Federation told Taarifa Friday that a top official in the committee has informed all cycling clubs around the country that they have tendered in their resignation.
The entire executive management committee of the Federation is made up of the President, two Vice Presidents, two advisers, the Secretary General and Treasurer.
On November 4th Taarifa published a story ‘Rwanda Cycling Mauled By Sexual Abuse, Fraud, Impunity’ in detailing complaints that Federation president Bayingana was allegedly involved in gross mismanagement of the federation.
Benoit Munyankindi 1st vice-president and Francois Karangwa 2nd vice-president had also requested the conflict management committee to intervene in fixing the concerns which were threatening to tear apart cycling in the country.
Bayingana is said to have apologized to the committee and promised to address all the accusations levied against him.
However, Bayingana took to media outlets and denied any wrong doing and outed a very long press release dismissing the Taarifa article that had for the first time exposed the internal matters of the federation.
One month later on Wednesday December 5th, Rwanda Investigations Bureau (RIB) said it was investigating the federation.
