A delegation led by Brig. Gen. Ronald Rwivanga, the Spokesperson of the Rwanda Defence Force, was received by Aisha Mohammed, Ethiopia’s Minister of Defence, on Monday during the commemoration of the 130th anniversary of the Victory of Adwa held in Adwa.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the historic celebrations and focused on strengthening the long-standing bilateral cooperation between Rwanda and Ethiopia, particularly in the defense sector.
Discussions emphasized expanding collaboration in military capacity building, regional security, and the use of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI).
Both sides highlighted the importance of adapting defense cooperation to modern security challenges by leveraging AI and advanced technologies to enhance operational efficiency, intelligence analysis, and strategic preparedness.
Speaking during the engagement, Brig. Gen. Rwivanga noted that:
“Rwanda attaches great value to its defense partnership with Ethiopia, describing it as a strategic relationship that contributes to peace and stability across the region”.
Minister Aisha Mohammed reaffirmed Ethiopia’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Rwanda, especially in innovation-driven defense initiatives.
