Rwanda Development Board (RDB) Chief Executive Officer Jean-Guy Afrika this week met with representatives of Egypt’s Piel Color Group to discuss potential investment opportunities in Rwanda, with a particular focus on the leather industry.
The meeting brought together RDB CEO Jean-Guy Afrika, Rwanda’s Ambassador to Egypt, H.E. Dan Munyuza, and a Piel Color Group delegation led by board member Hesham Gazar.
The discussions explored prospects for investing in Rwanda’s leather value chain, which has been identified as a priority sector under the country’s industrialization and export diversification strategy.
Piel Color Group is one of Egypt’s long-established leather companies, with decades of experience in leather tanning and finishing.
The group operates modern production facilities and supplies a range of leather products to international markets, serving clients in Europe, Asia, and North America. Its operations span multiple stages of the leather value chain, from raw hide processing to the production of high-quality finished leather used by global manufacturers.
During the talks, RDB officials outlined Rwanda’s improving business climate, access to regional and international markets, and government incentives aimed at attracting manufacturing and value-addition investments.
The discussions also touched on opportunities for technology transfer, skills development, and job creation within Rwanda’s leather industry.
RDB said the engagement reflects Rwanda’s continued outreach to strategic investors as the country positions itself as a competitive destination for sustainable manufacturing and industrial development.
