Eric Uwitonze (punctured above) a Rwandan living in France has begged the Foreign Affairs Minister Olivier Nduhungirehe to intervene in a family land dispute which seemingly has deeper ramifications.

According to emerging details, Uwitonze has written an open letter to Minister Nduhungirehe via X platform accusing a one Ngabonziza Maurice of fraudulent seizure of a family plot of land in Rwanda.

“I am writing to respectfully seek your intervention in a serious matter involving Mr. Ngabonziza Maurice, who works at the Rwanda Parliament. He produced four forged powers of attorney—two in my name and two in my sister’s name. We both reside in France,” Uwitonze’s letter reads in part.

He adds, “the fraud is obvious: the signatures are falsified, and the telephone numbers appearing on the documents correspond, in one case, to his own number and, in the other, to that of our mother.”

“By means of these forged documents, he succeeded in illegally appropriating a plot of land belonging to our family, which was clearly his objective,” the open letter reads in part.

“Mr. Ngabonziza Maurice falsely presents himself as an “umunyamategeko” (which is untrue) at the Rwandan Parliament and claims to be untouchable. Despite all the evidence I have submitted to the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB), no legal action has so far been taken against him, and he continues to openly mock the institution of RIB and the complaint I filed,’ Uwitonze said.

According to Uwitonze, “I reported this matter four months ago, and I do not understand why he has not been arrested like any other citizen, nor why justice has not yet been served.”

However, critics have denounced Uwitonze for addressing the issue to the wrong office.

According to a lawyer Henri Ingabire .. ” this should have been addressed to RIB Secretariat (and) if no response to the minister of justice and ombudsman.’

Meanwhile, a close relative of Uwitonze, confirmed the ongoing dispute saying,” it has dragged on for months”.

“Uwitonze is a troublesome person, the property is registered in his name’s including the sister. However, Uwitonze takes all the rent money and doesn’t give a single penny to the sister”

“The property generates 800,000 monthly but Uwitonze refused to give a share to the sister. This has kept these siblings in unending Wrangles,” the family member said on condition of anonymity.
