The Rwanda Football Association (FERWAFA) has rebranded the Rwanda Women’s Football League as the Rwanda Women’s Super League, unveiling a new logo and identity as part of a broader strategy to grow and commercialize women’s football in the country.

The rebranding was announced at FERWAFA headquarters in Kigali.

FERWAFA President Shema Fabrice said the move goes beyond aesthetics and is aimed at elevating the women’s game to the same level of visibility and commercial value as the men’s league.

“This is not merely a change of logo. It is a strategic plan to commercialize the women’s league, attract more revenue, and develop talent from the grassroots,” Shema said.

He added that FERWAFA is investing in infrastructure, talent development, and commercialization to strengthen the league and create professional pathways for players.

Commissioner for Women’s Football Nikitta Gicanda said the rebrand positions the league as a viable football business and opens doors for local players to access international opportunities.

“Our goal is to attract scouts, expose local talent, and help players earn a living as professionals,” she said.

Gicanda also announced that Women’s Super League matches will now be broadcast twice a week on FIFA Plus, significantly increasing the league’s global visibility.

FERWAFA said the initiative is expected to boost women’s football development, empower female athletes, and inspire young girls across the country.
