President Paul Kagame has called on the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) and other security organs to remain vigilant and adaptive in the face of evolving security threats, as he delivered his end-of-year message to the nation’s security forces.

“As we move into a new year, I urge you to maintain this momentum and continue to uphold the principles of integrity and accountability that define our forces,” the President said, stressing that vigilance remains central to safeguarding Rwanda’s sovereignty and long-term stability.

He praised the men and women of the RDF for their unwavering professionalism and dedication, noting that their service continues to protect the country and sustain peace both at home and abroad. “Through your steadfast vigilance, you safeguard our people, secure our territorial integrity, and uphold our sovereignty every single day,” he said.

President Kagame highlighted the role of Rwanda’s security forces in enabling national development, noting that peace and stability have allowed citizens to pursue their socio-economic activities in a secure environment. “Through your shared determination, Rwanda continues to enjoy peace and stability, and our people are able to thrive,” he added.

He also commended Rwandan troops serving in international peacekeeping missions, describing their work as a reflection of Rwanda’s commitment to protecting human life beyond its borders. “Across the continent’s peacekeeping theatres, you continue to honor our sacred vow to protect human life with every resource, every skill, and unwavering resolve,” he said.

The President described the RDF and other security organs as institutions he has always envisioned—disciplined, united, and principled. “You have grown into a pillar of national unity, dignity, and strength, capable of protecting our national interests while upholding the highest standards of integrity and patriotism,” he noted.

Special tribute was paid to personnel serving away from their families during the festive season and to families who have lost loved ones in the line of duty.

“We deeply recognize your sacrifices and those of your families. Your courage, resilience, and unwavering dedication make us all proud as Rwandans,” he said, assuring them that the nation stands with them.

On behalf of the Rwandan people, the government, and his family, President Kagame extended warm festive wishes and best hopes for the year ahead. He concluded by reaffirming his appreciation for their service, saying, “May you continue to serve with honor, and may your sacrifices always be recognized and rewarded.”
