Taarifa has established that the FDLR militia have made significant reinforcements into their Walikale positions ahead of clashes against Wazalendo of Mai Mai Kifuafua armed group.
Thousands of residents we seen fleeing their homes on Wednesday evening in Busurungi, the main town of the Waloa Loanda settlement, in Walikale territory, North Kivu.
According to a source, the reinforcement of FDLR fighters are from Kalehe in South Kivu and heading to Kamatembe, to support their comrades who are fighting against the wazalendo of the Mai Mai Kifuafua armed group.
Trouble flared into clashes following a disengagement of Mai Mai Kifuafua forces in Nyarambwe where clashes were still continuing until Wednesday afternoon.
The two sides have been clashing since Tuesday in Kamatembe, in the Biriko area one Wazalendo militia was killed and another seriously wounded.
Meanwhile, fighting has intensified on Nyarambwe hill, occupied by the FDLR in the same locality.
