President Paul Kagame has this afternoon met and held discussions with Jack Ma, Founder of Alibaba Group, and Jerry Yang, Co-Founder of Yahoo.
Their discussions centered on partnerships in entrepreneurship and innovation.
Jack Ma and Jerry Yang are in Kigali for Africa’s Business Heroes (ABH), Alibaba’s flagship initiative supporting African entrepreneurs and job creation.
The 7th edition Grand Finale, taking place today, brings together Africa’s most promising entrepreneurs, with the Top 10 finalists pitching their ventures for a share of USD 1.5 million in grant funding.
Meanwhile, during the 7th edition Grand Finale, Rwanda reaffirmed it’s strong commitment to positioning entrepreneurship as a catalyst for continental transformation.
The 7th Africa’s Business Heroes (ABH) Summit produced 10 finalists.
Rwanda Development Board (RDB) Deputy CEO Juliana Muganza, emphasized the growing impact of ABH on Africa’s innovation landscape.
“We are proud that ABH chose Kigali as the host city for the Grand Finale for the third year running,” she said.
“This is not by coincidence. It reflects a shared conviction between the Government and the ABH community that entrepreneurship is not just a tool for development— it is the engine of transformation.”
She added that every edition of ABH showcases the continent’s creative drive and entrepreneurial energy.
“Each year, ABH reminds us that entrepreneurship is not just an ambition but a language spoken across the continent, reminding us that young people, women, and innovators are no longer waiting for opportunities—they are creating them.”
Muganza congratulated this year’s Top 10 finalists and underscored Rwanda’s continued commitment to fostering a conducive business environment through supportive policies, investment promotion, and strengthened innovation infrastructure.
