Leaders of European countries are scheduled to travel to Washington next week to discuss the plan of US President Donald Trump for settlement of the conflict in Ukraine.

Certain European leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, may visit Washington early next week in attempt to convince the US leader to make amendments to his peace plan.

Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Keir Starmer will hardly go to the United States before the budget address to be presented by the government on November 26, it noted.

British diplomats privately recognized that the plan unveiled by the US presidential administration for settlement of the conflict in Ukraine can become the basis to terminate hostilities.

“In the current circumstances, this may be Kiev’s best hope … it’s not perfect, but it’s not final, either. It could — could — offer a way to end the killing, and allow us to focus on rebuilding Ukraine,” a UK diplomat said.

While many experts in British mass media put under fire the paragraph of limiting the strength of the Ukrainian army, analysts of the UK Defense Ministry actually believe Kiev would not be able to afford more than 500,000 servicemen in the long run, the newspaper noted.

The Trump’s plan, contrary to certain publications, did not prohibit Ukraine from having long-range weapons, the news outlet added.

Meanwhile, United States expects to meet with Russian representatives “very soon” to discuss its plan for resolving the Ukrainian crisis.

According to the US-proposed plan, which was leaked to the Western media, the United States and other countries will have to recognize Russia’s sovereignty over Crimea, Donbass and other territories that Ukraine will have to give up.

In return, Kiev will receive American and European security guarantees. A demilitarized zone will be created, and Ukrainian troops will be withdrawn from areas therein.
