Rwanda and France have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening defence cooperation and supporting ongoing peace efforts in the region following a high-level meeting held today in Kigali.
The Minister of Defence, Hon. Juvenal Marizamunda, and the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Mubarakh K. Mubarakh, hosted H.E. Aurélie Royet-Gounin, the Ambassador of France to Rwanda, who was accompanied by Colonel Cyril Chevauchet, France’s Defence Attaché.
Discussions during the meeting focused on regional security dynamics and the peace processes currently underway across the Great Lakes region. Both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to the peaceful settlement of conflicts through dialogue and cooperation.
The talks also emphasized the importance of deepening Rwanda–France defence cooperation, building on the progress made in recent years toward restoring and expanding bilateral relations.
The meeting reflects the growing partnership between the two countries in promoting regional stability, capacity building, and mutual understanding within the broader framework of international peace and security.
