Minister Irere participated in the Second Global Summit of the School Meals Coalition in Fortaleza, where she joined a high-level panel on school meals and sustainable food systems.

She shared Rwanda’s experience in leveraging school meals to improve student nutrition, boost attendance, and support local agricultural production.

In a key milestone of the visit, the Minister signed a cooperation agreement in education between Rwanda and Brazil, paving the way for deeper collaboration in knowledge exchange, research, and skills development.

The agreement is expected to strengthen ties between the two countries’ academic and technical institutions, opening new avenues for joint projects and innovation.

While in São Paulo, Minister Irere engaged with some of Brazil’s most influential institutions shaping industry, training, and research, including the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo (FIESP), the National Service for Industrial Training (SENAI), the University of São Paulo, and the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP).

Her meetings focused on exploring opportunities for industry-driven skills development and applied research, areas seen as critical for Rwanda’s ongoing economic transformation and its ambition to become a regional hub for innovation and high-value industries.

The visit emphasized Rwanda’s strategy of combining education reform with international partnerships to strengthen human capital, drive sustainable development, and foster global collaboration in food security and education.
