FIFA and FERWAFA Leaders Pledge Stronger Ties to Boost Rwanda’s Football Development

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has met with newly elected Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) President Shema Ngoga Fabrice at the FIFA African Development Office in Rabat, Morocco.

Talks centered on grassroots football, youth competitions, and governance reforms, with both leaders committing to work closely to accelerate Rwanda’s football development agenda.

Infantino congratulated Shema Ngoga on his election and emphasized FIFA’s readiness to support Rwanda in strengthening its football structures, particularly at the youth level. “Grassroots and youth competitions are the foundation of football’s future, and FIFA is committed to helping Rwanda achieve its ambitions,” he said.

For his part, Shema Ngoga highlighted Rwanda’s vision to use football as a tool for youth empowerment and talent development. He pledged that FERWAFA would intensify efforts to improve governance and expand opportunities for young players across the country.

The meeting marks an important step in consolidating Rwanda’s partnership with FIFA, coming at a time when the country is seeking to position itself as a growing hub for sports development in the region.
