Rwanda’s top-flight football has entered a new era after the signing of the Premier League Regulations by FERWAFA President Shema Ngoga Fabrice and Rwanda Premier League (RPL) President Al Hadji Yussuf Mudaheranwa.
The ceremony, attended by referees described as the “guardians of fair play,” was hailed as a milestone in the pursuit of discipline, integrity, and professionalism in Rwandan football.
FERWAFA President Shema emphasized that the signing was more than an administrative act.
“Today we are not only signing regulations, we are signing a covenant of integrity,” he said, highlighting a collective commitment to ethics and transparency in the game.
RPL President Mudaheranwa echoed the sentiment, calling it “a historical step” for the league. He added that referees, as the pillars of credibility, would also be considered in the sharing of league benefits, reinforcing their crucial role in safeguarding fairness.
Referees at the event pledged professionalism and neutrality, vowing to uphold the values of discipline and fairness as the new regulations take effect.
The signing marks a turning point for Rwandan football, with leaders stressing that the sport must go beyond goals and victories to embrace ethics, discipline, and the values that ensure sustainable growth of the game.
