Rwanda and Brazil are strengthening bilateral relations through fresh initiatives spanning health technology, agriculture, and tourism promotion.

On Tuesday, Rwanda Development Board (RDB) Deputy CEO Juliana Muganza met with a delegation from Galileu Saúde 360, a Brazilian digital health company led by Founder and CEO Márcio Alves.

The talks explored potential collaboration in telemedicine, AI-driven health solutions, and digital health ecosystems, with the aim of scaling Rwanda’s health-tech innovations to the wider region.

Meanwhile, Brazil’s newly accredited ambassador to Rwanda, Irene Vida Gala, confirmed that her country will support Rwanda’s Visit Rwanda campaign by promoting the brand in Brazil.

The campaign, launched in 2018, is a flagship tourism marketing initiative through partnerships with top European football clubs such as Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, Atlético de Madrid, and Bayern Munich.

Ambassador Vida Gala emphasized that the partnership is part of a “Big Agenda” of cooperation that extends beyond tourism.

“We have major projects we can pursue together. I discussed with the President that collaboration should begin with agriculture and livestock, as Brazil is highly advanced in these sectors. But we also want to work in areas of social development, including infrastructure and health,” she said.

She added that Brazil is prepared to share its extensive experience with Rwanda, describing participation in the Visit Rwanda program as a dream she expects to realize.

The Brazilian envoy was one of four new ambassadors who presented credentials to President Paul Kagame. Others included Casper Stenger Jensen of Denmark, Aurélie Royet-Gounin of France, and Hanan AbdelAziz Elsaid Shahin of Egypt.

Notably, Brazil and Denmark are both opening embassies in Rwanda for the first time, signaling a deepening of ties.

Brazil, the largest country in South America and the 15th largest in the world by area, is also the region’s biggest economy.

With a population of over 213 million people, it is a global powerhouse in agriculture, industry, and services, while also being the home of Amazon rainforest, which covers 60% of its territory.

Beyond economics, Brazil is globally renowned for its sporting culture, particularly football, where it remains unmatched with a record five FIFA World Cup victories.

For Rwanda, tapping into Brazil’s advanced expertise in agriculture and digital health while expanding Visit Rwanda to South America presents a strategic opportunity to attract investment, boost tourism, and diversify partnerships beyond traditional markets.
