The University of Rwanda (UR) today welcomed a high-profile delegation from St. Louis–Missouri, USA, as part of efforts to strengthen international collaboration in education and business.
The delegation, led by Rodney Boyd of the Nexus Group, was received by UR Vice Chancellor Professor Kayihura Muganga Didas and Professor Ignace Gatare, Principal of the College of Science and Technology (UR-CST).
Among the visiting members were Lt. Gen. (Rtd) Darrell K. Williams, President of Hampton University; senior representatives from Grambling State University; and executives from global technology giant Amazon.
According to UR, the visit aims to explore and forge strategic partnerships that will enhance academic exchange, joint research, innovation projects, and business opportunities between Rwanda and institutions in St. Louis–Missouri.
“This engagement reflects our commitment to building mutually beneficial relationships with leading institutions and industry partners worldwide,” said Professor Kayihura.
“Through such collaborations, we are opening new pathways for our students, researchers, and the broader Rwandan economy.”
The delegation’s program in Rwanda includes meetings with government agencies, private sector leaders, and other higher learning institutions to identify concrete areas of cooperation.
UR officials say the partnerships under discussion could include student and faculty exchanges, joint degree programs, technology transfer initiatives, and industry-driven research—particularly in science, technology, and entrepreneurship.
The visit underscores Rwanda’s growing profile as a hub for innovation, investment, and global academic cooperation.
