The United Kingdom Prime Minister, Keir Starmer is schedued to discuss ways of settling the conflict in Ukraine during the meeting with US President Donald Trump, according to sources quoted by The Sunday Telegraph newspaper.
“At the talks in Scotland, Sir Keir will also discuss how to end the Russia-Ukraine war after Mr. Trump turned on Vladimir Putin, the Russian president, in recent weeks,” the newspaper said.
“He is also expected to discuss further support for Ukraine,” the news outlet said.
Talks between Starmer and Trump are scheduled for July 28 in Scotland, where the US President is on a visit until July 29.
The key topic of the meeting is to be the trade deal between the United States and the United Kingdom.
The leaders of the two countries also intend to discuss the situation in the Gaza Strip.
Keir Starmer also said that recognition of the State of Palestine must be part of a wider plan which ultimately results in a two-state solution and lasting security for Palestinians and Israelis.
“Alongside our closest allies, I am working on a pathway to peace in the region, focused on the practical solutions that will make a real difference to the lives of those who are suffering in this war. That pathway will set out concrete steps to turn the desperately needed ceasefire into a lasting peace. Recognition of a Palestinian state has to be one of those steps. I’m unequivocal about that,” he pointed out in a video address posted on X platform.
