President WadagniPresident of Benin Romuald Wadagni, who is in Rwanda for an official visit, has toured the Rwanda Institute for Conservation Agriculture (RICA), where he explored modern approaches to livestock farming and sustainable agriculture.
During his visit, President Wadagni was introduced to different aspects of cattle farming, including dairy production. He was shown cows kept for milk production and briefed on their milk yields, as well as how proper feeding, animal care and management contribute to improved productivity.
The Beninese President was also shown how value is added to beef from cattle raised for meat, highlighting efforts to increase the economic returns from livestock farming by processing and improving agricultural products before they reach the market.
RICA is a higher education institution that focuses on practical, hands-on training in agriculture, livestock production, food processing and natural resource management. The institution promotes conservation agriculture and equips students with skills aimed at developing productive, sustainable and commercially viable farming systems.
The visit gave President Wadagni an opportunity to see how Rwanda is combining agricultural education, technology and sustainable farming practices to improve productivity and add value to agricultural products.
His visit to RICA is part of his broader official engagement in Rwanda as the two countries continue to strengthen cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including agriculture, education and economic development.
