For more than 14 years, Jean Paul Bujyacyera, popularly known to radio listeners as Gutermann Guter, has entertained and informed audiences through his work as a journalist and radio presenter at ISANGO STAR.
While his voice has become a familiar presence on Rwanda’s airwaves, his impact extends far beyond the newsroom through the humanitarian work of the Nufashwa Yafasha Organization, a non-profit he founded to support vulnerable children and underserved communities.
Over the years, Bujyacyera has successfully balanced a demanding media career with leading community development initiatives in Ngarama Sector, Gatsibo District, Eastern Province.
His journey reflects a commitment not only to storytelling but also to creating lasting solutions for children facing poverty and limited access to education.
Driven by the conviction that every child deserves an opportunity to learn and thrive, Bujyacyera established Nufashwa Yafasha Organization with a mission to improve the lives of disadvantaged children through education, nutrition, youth empowerment, and social protection programs.
The organization has since expanded its work to include early childhood development, primary education, school feeding initiatives, scholarships for vulnerable learners, youth skills development, women’s economic empowerment, sports and talent development, and community outreach programs.
Among its flagship achievements is the establishment of the Nufashwa Yafasha Nursery and Primary School, which provides quality education and a supportive learning environment for children from vulnerable families.
Speaking about the vision behind the organization, Jean Paul Bujyacyera said:
“Journalism gave me the opportunity to tell people’s stories, but I realized that I also had a responsibility to become part of the solution. Through Nufashwa Yafasha, we are investing in children because every child deserves quality education, nutritious meals, and the opportunity to build a better future regardless of their background.”

Beyond providing education, Nufashwa Yafasha has invested in improving school infrastructure, sanitation facilities, nutrition programs, digital learning opportunities, and children’s participation in sports and creative arts.
These initiatives are designed to address both immediate community needs and long-term development.
As demand for its services continues to grow, the organization is planning a major expansion that includes additional classrooms, a library, a digital learning center, administrative offices, a conference hall, and a community health post to better serve local families.

Bujyacyera’s dual role as a journalist and humanitarian has enabled him to use his public platform to raise awareness about children’s rights, education, youth development, and community resilience while building partnerships with organizations supporting the foundation’s mission.
His work has earned recognition both in Rwanda’s media industry and among community development stakeholders, demonstrating how journalism can serve as a catalyst for meaningful social change.
Despite his growing humanitarian responsibilities, Bujyacyera remains committed to his career at ISANGO STAR while continuing to expand the impact of Nufashwa Yafasha.
