Rwanda has reaffirmed its commitment to becoming a secure and attractive destination for investments that promote environmental protection while accelerating socio-economic development.

Speaking at the Climate and Development Finance Forum, Rwanda’s Minister of Environment, Dr. Bernadette Arakwiye emphasized the country’s determination to align climate action with sustainable development goals.

The minister joined António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, and other global leaders at the forum, which focuses on mobilizing financial resources to support development initiatives and strengthen efforts to combat the impacts of climate change.

What is the Climate and Development Finance Forum?

The Climate and Development Finance Forum is an international platform that brings together governments, development partners, financial institutions, investors and climate experts to discuss innovative ways of financing climate action and sustainable development projects.

The forum aims to bridge the financing gap needed to help countries build resilient economies while addressing the growing challenges posed by climate change.

During the event, Dr. Arakwiye presented Rwanda’s Country Platform for Climate and Development, a national initiative designed to integrate climate resilience measures with the country’s broader development agenda.

The platform seeks to coordinate investments, strengthen partnerships and accelerate projects that deliver both environmental and economic benefits to communities across Rwanda.

Minister Calls for Greater International Investment

Addressing participants, Dr. Arakwiye encouraged international partners and investors to explore Rwanda’s high-impact climate projects.

“Rwanda is committed to becoming a safe, reliable and attractive destination for investments that protect the environment while improving the livelihoods of our people. Through our Country Platform for Climate and Development, we are creating opportunities for partners to invest in transformative projects that address climate change and drive sustainable development,” said Dr. Arakwiye.

The minister stressed that stronger international cooperation and increased climate financing will be crucial in helping vulnerable countries adapt to climate change and achieve long-term economic growth.

Rwanda has increasingly positioned itself as a regional leader in environmental sustainability, pursuing ambitious policies aimed at building a green, climate-resilient economy while improving the well-being of its citizens.
