DRC and Brazil Agree On Paid Employment For Dependants of Diplomatic Mission Staff

The Democratic Republic of Congo and Brazil have signed a bilateral agreement concerning paid employment opportunities for dependents of staff members of diplomatic missions, consular posts, and permanent representations.

The agreement was one of the highlights of the visit of Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira to Kinshasa from Sunday, March 29 to Monday, March 30, 2026.

According to the DRC Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this visit is part of the ongoing efforts to strengthen relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries, initiated in particular during the multi-sectoral consultations held recently in Brasilia and the Congolese mission of August 2025.

The signing of the agreement represents progress in legal and social cooperation between the DRC and Brazil, as well as on major regional and international issues.

“They reaffirmed their commitment to intensifying regular political consultations and consolidating their strategic partnership.”

“The discussions identified several priority sectors for cooperation, including agriculture, infrastructure, defense, education, mining, culture, research, and the economy.”

“Both sides also expressed their willingness to increase trade and stimulate investment between the two countries,” stated the office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Thérèse Kayikwamba Wagner.

In this context, the holding of the second session of the DRC-Brazil multisectoral consultations in Kinshasa in 2027.
