Rwandan Envoy to Nigeria Presents Credentials

Rwanda and Nigeria have pledged to further strengthen bilateral ties as Rwanda’s new Envoy to the West African nation presented letters of credence.

“Ambassador Moses Rugema, the High Commissioner-designate of the Republic of Rwanda to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, presented copies of Letters of Credence to H.E. Amb. Wahab Adekola Akande, Chief of Protocol at Nigerias Foreign Affairs Ministry,” The Rwandan High Commission said shortly after.

“Both reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties,” the High Commission added.

Since 1962, when Rwanda attained Self rule, it has maintained cordial diplomatic relationship with Nigeria.

The established bilateral cooperation Areas

Rwanda is a beneficiary of the Technical Aid Corps of Nigeria (volunteer programme) in the Health and Education sectors.

Cooperation in military training for RDF officers at the National Defence Senior Command Staff and Junior Command Staff courses in Nigeria, and for the Nigeria Defence Force Officers, participation in the Senior Command Course in Rwanda.

Cooperation in Air Transport based on the signed Bilateral Air Service Agreement and grant of the 5th Freedom Right to RwandAir for its flights into Abuja and Lagos.

Nigeria has a considerable investment portfolio in Rwanda with proposed Real Estate Development projects as well as the operation of subsidiaries of Nigerian Banks (Access Bank and GT Bank).

Nigeria grants visa on arrival to Rwandan diplomatic and official passport holders.
