EAC Heads of State Convene in Nairobi For Summit

Rwanda’s Prime Minister, Justin Nsengiyumva, participated in the 25th Ordinary Summit of Heads of State of the East African Community (EAC), where regional leaders met to review the bloc’s progress and discuss key priorities for strengthening cooperation across East Africa.

During the summit, a leadership transition took place within the regional organization. The outgoing Chairperson of the EAC, Kenyan President William Samoei Ruto, officially handed over the chairmanship to Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

The handover ceremony was attended by heads of state and senior government officials from member countries, reflecting the continued commitment of the region to deepen economic integration, enhance security cooperation, and promote sustainable development.

Leaders at the summit reaffirmed their dedication to strengthening regional collaboration, expanding cross-border trade, and advancing initiatives that support the prosperity and stability of the East African region.

The meeting underscored the importance of unity among EAC member states as they work together to accelerate development and improve the livelihoods of citizens across the region.
