The ‘Congo First Coalition’ has called for the establishment of an International Criminal Tribunal for the DRC.
This new platform, composed of several associations and political parties, aims to promote the awakening of conscience through values such as the culture of good against evil, the culture of truth against falsehood, the culture of beauty against ugliness, the culture of justice against impunity, as well as the culture of good governance against predation.
“Some are asking why the Congo First Coalition? We are not just another coalition, but we are bringing something extra, contributing to addressing the many difficulties our country is facing. It all started with the observation that in the Democratic Republic of Congo, there are men who are more powerful than the country itself. They steal, they kill, they decimate entire villages, and as if that weren’t enough, they are given political rewards, and this happens repeatedly,” said former MP Toussaint Alonga the coordinator of the coalition.
“After much deliberation, we decided to create the Congo First Coalition, whose political approach is focused on demanding the establishment of the International Criminal Tribunal in the Democratic Republic of Congo to try all crimes committed on Congolese soil. The political objective is to stop the spiral of violence, the vicious cycle of disorder in the DRC, namely: elections, disputes, rebellion, dialogue, and a government of national unity. Only the International Criminal Tribunal in the DRC has the capacity to address crimes committed by Congolese citizens and those committed by foreigners on Congolese soil. It will establish and enshrine the end of impunity and the fear of the police; otherwise, the same causes will produce the same effects.”
He said that Inclusive dialogue helps restore broken national cohesion and consolidates national unity.
