Since its launch, Art Rwanda Ubuhanzi has supported 174 artists across Rwanda, helping them transform creativity into sustainable livelihoods.
The initiative has played a key role in nurturing artistic talent by providing knowledge, tools, professional training, and access to markets for creative products.
As the program prepares to conclude its third phase, a total of 46 artists from diverse artistic disciplines are set to graduate.
These artists represent a wide range of creative fields, reflecting the program’s inclusive approach to developing Rwanda’s creative industry.
In 2025 alone, Art Rwanda Ubuhanzi enabled artists to generate more than Rwf 103 million in income clear evidence that investing in the arts can translate creativity into economic opportunity. The milestone highlights how structured support and market access can significantly improve the livelihoods of artists.
Speaking on the impact of the program, Elodie Shami, Chief Executive Officer of Imbuto Foundation, said Art Rwanda Ubuhanzi is one of the foundation’s flagship initiatives aimed at empowering young people by expanding their skills and potential through arts development.
She noted that the closing event for the third phase will be a celebration of creativity, featuring artistic expression across nine different categories.
The ceremony will also recognize and reward outstanding performers from the cohort, underscoring excellence and innovation within Rwanda’s creative sector.
Art Rwanda Ubuhanzi continues to position the arts not only as a form of cultural expression, but also as a viable economic pathway proving that when talent is nurtured and supported, creativity can drive both personal growth and national development.
