A self determined Somaliland has showcased it’s powerful military for the whole world to see.
Somaliland which has for decades claimed independence from Somalia has been recognized by Israel as a sovereign state triggering diplomatic uproar from different independent states and organisations.
Prior to showcasing the army, the US Command visited Somaliland, a move that has significant implications that the US recognizes Somaliland as sovereign state.
Somaliland declared independence from Somalia in 1991 but has never gained United Nations recognition.
Meanwhile Israel recognized Somaliland as an independent nation in December.
Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud previously told journalists that Somaliland had accepted Israel’s three conditions – the resettlement of Palestinians, establishment of a military base on the coast of the Gulf of Aden and joining the Abraham Accords to normalise ties with Israel.
