President Paul Kagame has congratulated his Ugandan counterpart Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on his re-election, reaffirming his commitment to strengthening ties between the two neighboring countries.
In a message shared publicly, President Kagame praised Museveni’s renewed mandate and extended his best wishes to the people of Uganda. “Congratulations President Museveni on your re-election as President of the Republic of Uganda. I extend my best wishes to you and the people of Uganda as you continue to serve your nation for the prosperity of your people,” Kagame said.
Kagame also emphasized the importance of continued collaboration between Kigali and Kampala, signaling a desire for deeper bilateral engagement. “I look forward to the continued strong and productive cooperation between our two countries,” he added.
Relations between Rwanda and Uganda have experienced periods of strain in recent years, followed by efforts at normalization and renewed diplomatic engagement.
Kagame’s message is being viewed by observers as a positive signal of sustained dialogue and regional stability.
Uganda and Rwanda share strong economic, security, and cultural ties, with cross-border trade and regional cooperation playing a critical role in the East African Community.
Museveni’s re-election marks another chapter in his long tenure as Uganda’s leader, and regional leaders have continued to send messages of goodwill following the announcement of the results.
