Stéphane Shisso,a private cameraman for DRC’s opposition leader Moise Katumbi (pictured above)has been missing for several days according to relatives and the press fraternity.
The National Union of Congolese Press (UNPC), said one of their members Shisso was being held by members of the Republican Guard, pending his transfer to Kinshasa.
Marianne Mujing Yav, the interim president in the Katanga region and second national vice-president of the UNPC demanded for the unconditional release of their colleague.
” The National Union of the Press of Congo denounces the clandestine abduction of cameraman Stéphane Shisso, a media professional, who was clandestinely detained at the Kimbembe military camp and then transferred to Kinshasa without any assistance,” UNPC said in a statement.
“It is therefore in violation of human rights that cameraman Stéphane Shisso is being held by the Republican Guard without knowing the reason why she was abducted like a common criminal,” Mujing said.
Since her abduction, relatives and family say they have had no news of her, except for her transfer to Kinshasa.
Stéphane Shisso has been a cameraman for Nyota television for several years and is assigned to cover the activities of opposition leader Moïse Katumbi Chapwe.
