Emerging details indicate that a controversial Ugandan human rights lawyer Dr Sarah Bireete has appeared before court in the capital Kampala.
Bireete the director of the Centre for Constitutional Governance, was arrested on Tuesday this week, has been produced before the Chief Magistrate’s Court at Buganda Road, “she is expected to be charged today with cyber-related offences,” local media reported.
Her legal team led by Ronald Mafabi said they had not yet been served with a charge sheet.
Mafabi said however, his interactions with uganda police indicate his client could be charged with cyber related offenses.
Bareete was arrested and detained by security operatives after making a series of criticisms against the Kampala regime.
