A Rwandan registered bus has crashed in Uganda leaving three dead on spot and several injured according to eyewitness accounts.
The accident occurred in Rukiga District at Bukinda, Kakatunda, along the Kabale–Mbarara highway in Uganda.
The bus, a Trinity coach with registration number RAT 597K, was traveling from Kigali, Rwanda, to Kampala when the crash happened.
According to preliminary reports, the speeding driver lost control of the vehicle while maneuvering a hilly section of the road. The bus veered off the road and overturned into a valley.
The deceased have been identified as Lubwama John Herbert, 26, a resident of Kawempe Division in Wakiso District; Habineza Alfred, 30, a bus conductor and a Rwandan national only identified as Gadaffi.
Four other passengers sustained injuries in the accident.
They were rushed to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital, where they are currently receiving medical treatment.
The bodies of the deceased were taken to the hospital mortuary for postmortem examination.
Authorities are continuing investigations into the exact cause of the accident as the community mourns the loss of lives in this devastating crash.
