Angry Davido fans are fuming and demanding for a refund following a failed “After-Party” that had been specially planned to take place at KOZO Kigali Restaurant.
The restaurant management which angry fans describe as arrogant has remained tight lipped as though nothing happened.
Taarifa has reliably learned that hundreds of Davido fans had paid to the restaurant Frw30,000 each but were shocked when the Nigerian star didn’t showup.
KOZO Restaurant had previously advertised the exclusive after-party with Nigerian superstar Davido—an event that reportedly never happened.
The backlash intensified days after Davido’s sold-out concert in Kigali, with numerous TikTok users and attendees coming forward to share their frustrations.
A female TikToker, one of the first to speak out, questioned why those affected had remained silent despite losing their hard-earned money.
Her video sparked a wave of testimonies from victims who described their experience as “a heartbreaking scam.
The initial entrance fee was set at Frw30,000 but was increased to Frw50,000 shortly after Davido posted a video confirming his trip to Kigali.
Given Davido’s stature and the sold-out concert at BK Arena, people rushed to secure tickets—many after considerable difficulty.
One attendee recounts paying Frw50,000 in advance, “I watched the BK Arena concert from home, confident that I’d make it to the after-party I had already paid for. But when it was past midnight and Davido was still performing, I began to worry. Bars close at 2 a.m., I wondered how would this after-party happen?”
At around 1 a.m., hopeful fans—locals and foreigners alike—arrived at KOZO Bar. Their tickets were scanned, but what awaited them inside was far from the lively after-party they had been promised.
There was no music, No drinks being served and No sign of Davido.
Instead, waiters were clearing tables and collecting bottles, signaling the end of their shift.
Victims say management never addressed the crowd, never explained the situation, and ignored pleas for at least basic service equivalent to the price paid.
“We begged the staff to let us at least consume drinks worth our entrance fee, but they refused. In the end, we left in tears.
Some foreigners were shocked, asking how something like this could happen in Rwanda, a country known for hospitality.”
Taarifa has learned that several attendees attempted to contact KOZO management by phone, but callers were met with what many described as arrogant responses.
Some were told the staff “had no idea” about any Davido-related event, despite the venue’s own promotional push earlier in the week.
The incident raises broader concerns contrary to Rwanda’s continued investment in tourism and hospitality sector.
The Kozo saga according to angry fans undermines the national efforts of promoting the country into an entertainment hotspot.
“The government is working hard to promote Rwanda as a premier destination,” one victim said. “Yet places like KOZO are out here scamming people and tarnishing the country’s reputation.”
As more testimonies surface, pressure is mounting on KOZO to issue refunds, public explanations, or both.
Many affected individuals are demanding intervention from consumer protection authorities, arguing that the venue capitalized on the high demand created by Davido’s sold-out event to exploit unsuspecting fans.
Indeed Davido’s trip to Rwanda will remain as an unforgettable night. Some will live to tell the mega show at BK arena while fans at Kozo will live to regret how they were fleeced with arrogance.
