Rwanda and Mozambique Parliaments Deepen Cooperation

Rwanda’s Speaker of the National Assembly Hon. Gertrude Kazarwa, is in Mozambique for a working trip.

Hon. Kazarwa leading a delegation, was received by the Speaker of the National Assembly of Mozambique, Madam Margarida Adamugi Talapa.

The two officials held high-level discussions aimed at reinforcing the strong and longstanding relations between the two nations.

During the meeting, Hon. Kazarwa emphasized that the visit of her delegation to Mozambique reflects the solid friendship and excellent cooperation that have continued to define relations between Rwanda and Mozambique.

She further noted that the visit demonstrates the commitment of both countries to strengthening collaboration for mutual benefit, particularly in areas of governance, security, and socio-economic development.

“We firmly believe that deepening economic cooperation, between our countries and across the continent, will accelerate shared development. The African Continental Free Trade Area offers us a unique opportunity to unlock intra-African trade and build resilient value chains,” she expressed.

Speaker Kazarwa reaffirmed Rwanda’s commitment to implementing the Parliamentary Cooperation Protocol and deepening collaboration in legislative development, oversight, capacity building, and people-centered governance.

On her part, Speaker Talapa expressed deep appreciation for the significant support Rwanda continues to provide in combating terrorist groups in the Cabo Delgado Province. She recognized Rwanda’s contribution as a critical element in restoring peace and stability in the region.

The two sides also reviewed the progress made in implementing the 2022 Cooperation Agreements, reaffirming their commitment to ensuring that the agreements are fully and efficiently executed.

Both delegations agreed to enhance coordination and explore new avenues for parliamentary cooperation, as well as broader bilateral relations between Rwanda and Mozambique.

The meeting ended with a shared understanding that continued dialogue and partnership are essential for advancing the common interests of both nations and strengthening regional stability.
