More than 400 delegates are attending the 46th Ministerial Conference of the International Organization of the Francophonie in Rwanda’s capital, at the Kigali Convention Centre (KCC).

This edition is taking place (Nov 18-20) under the theme “30 years after the Beijing Conference: the contribution of women in the Francophone space.”

Delegates are deliberating on the progress made, the ongoing challenges, and the crucial importance of women’s leadership in governance, culture, diplomacy, peace, and sustainable development within the Francophone community.

This high-level meeting has brought together ministers, diplomats, and leaders from the 90 member and observer states and governments of the OIF (International Organisation of La Francophonie) for an ambitious political dialogue and the promotion of shared values such as democracy, gender equality, human rights, and cultural diversity.

The Ministerial Conference of the Francophonie (CMF) is one of the three bodies established by the Charter of the Francophonie, alongside the Francophonie Summit and the Permanent Council of the Francophonie (CPF).

It plays a vital role in ensuring the political continuity of the Summit, monitoring the implementation of decisions made and preparing for future meetings.

The International Organisation of the Francophonie (OIF), which leads this initiative, brings together states and governments united around shared values: the promotion of the French language, cultural diversity, human rights, education, and sustainable development.

The Francophonie Summit (CMF) meets annually to ensure regular and coordinated political dialogue within the Francophone community.
