Rwanda’s creative and tourism sectors received a major lift on Friday as more than 30 content creators gathered at the Movenpick Hotel Kigali for the official launch of the Destination Rwanda Content Creators Forum (DRCCF).
The event brought together photographers, filmmakers, vloggers, travel bloggers, digital marketers, and storytellers committed to elevating Rwanda’s global image through coordinated, high-quality digital content.
Sponsored by The Travooz Project, a digital-driven marketing initiative under MOPAS Ltd in partnership with the Rwanda Chamber of Tourism, the breakfast gathering highlighted the increasing influence of online storytelling in shaping perceptions of Rwanda as a top destination for tourism, MICE, and investment.
Travooz is currently developing several innovations, including an online tour operator platform, an indigenous hotel management system, and a dedicated television channel focused on promoting Rwanda.
Content creators at the launch stressed the need for a unified, professional platform that connects storytellers with national institutions and sector players.
The DRCCF aims to organize the fast-growing content creation industry, enhance professionalism, strengthen collaboration, and support the country’s broader destination branding strategies.
One of the major outcomes of the meeting was the election of an interim committee to lead the Forum’s legal registration and structural development. The elected members are:
- Chairman: Ufitenema Mouhamod
- Vice Chairman: Japhet Mazimpaka
- Finance Secretary: Nadia Umutoni
- Heads of Partnerships & Collaborations: Noelia and Essy Williams
- Head of Memberships: Rene William Muhirwa
- Coordinator: Shema Katende
- Deputy Coordinator: Chyiza Kelly Niyonsenga
With registration ongoing, the Forum is expected to expand as more creators join.
The launch marks a significant milestone for Rwanda’s digital storytellers, who now have a collective platform to amplify authentic narratives about the nation’s culture, innovation, landscapes, and hospitality.
Organizers believe the DRCCF will become a valuable asset—driving tourism growth, strengthening the creative economy, and increasing Rwanda’s visibility globally through powerful, homegrown stories.
