Qatar has reiterated its commitment to supporting lasting peace in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) following the signing of the Doha Framework Agreement for Peace between the Government of the DRC and the Congo River Alliance (March 23 Movement).
HE Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi, Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said the agreement—signed on Saturday in Doha—marks a significant step toward strengthening peace and stability in eastern DRC, a region long affected by conflict.
Dr. Al Khulaifi emphasized that Qatar will continue to back the peace process until full and comprehensive peace is achieved for the Congolese people.
He highlighted Qatar’s longstanding support for dialogue-driven conflict resolution and its commitment to fostering regional stability.
Speaking at a press conference after the signing, the Minister of State praised both parties for their “genuine political will and responsible commitment,” which he said were crucial in reaching the agreement.
He noted that Qatar appreciates the trust placed in its mediation efforts and remains dedicated to guiding the process forward.
The Doha Framework Agreement is expected to open a new chapter in efforts to end decades of instability in eastern Congo, with Qatar positioning itself as a key facilitator of the peace roadmap.
