Rwanda is gearing up to host MWC25 Kigali, the continent’s leading connectivity and digital innovation summit, from 21–23 October 2025 at the Kigali Convention Centre.
Organized by the GSMA, the event brings together global technology leaders, innovators, policymakers, and investors to explore how digital technologies are accelerating Africa’s transformation.
His Excellency President Paul Kagame will officially open the event on 21 October, marking the third consecutive edition he has inaugurated, underscoring Rwanda’s leadership in digital transformation and technology policy across the continent.
The speaker line-up includes senior figures from the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Rwanda’s Ministry of ICT and Innovation, and executives from major operators and technology firms such as Airtel Africa, Amini, Axian Telecom Group, Ethio Telecom, Huawei, MTN Group, Orange, and ZTE.
Founding and headline sponsors include Huawei, MTN, and ZTE, with Airtel and Orange as industry sponsors.
The Ministry of ICT and Innovation and Smart Africa are serving as event partners. Exhibitors will feature leading global and regional firms, including Detecon, Ericsson, Ethiotel, Fraudbuster, Ookla, Netscout, PXS, SES, Telcoin, and Terrapay, among others.
The Orange Social Ventures Prize will once again highlight and reward social innovators from across Africa and the Middle East.
Angela Wamola, Head of Africa at GSMA, said MWC Kigali has grown into an influential platform shaping Africa’s digital future.
“Every year, MWC Kigali grows as an industry platform for progress — not only for Africa, but for the wider global economy,” she said.
“This year’s event goes beyond counting connections to delivering the connectivity, skills, and innovation needed to confront the challenges still ahead and accelerate Africa’s growth for decades to come.”
Held in partnership with the Ministry of ICT and Innovation, MWC25 Kigali will introduce new features, including:
- The GSMA Ministerial Programme, joining the Kigali agenda for the first time, will bring together policymakers and industry leaders to discuss critical topics such as artificial intelligence (AI), digitalisation of African economies, and the impact of technology on the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
- The Future of Education & Work in Africa (FEWA) summit, co-located with MWC Kigali, will focus on shaping scalable and ethical AI solutions for education and workforce transformation.
- A series of dedicated summits, including a two-day Fintech Summit, a 5G Summit, and MWC Kigali’s first-ever Security Summit, will explore key challenges and opportunities shaping Africa’s digital landscape.
This year’s expanded three-day programme will revolve around four main themes:
- Connected Continent – Examining how expanded connectivity, affordable smartphones, and 5G rollout are enabling millions to access digital services and participate in the global economy.
- The AI Future – Highlighting AI’s potential to double Africa’s GDP growth by 2035 and drive innovation through ethical and inclusive practices.
- Fintech – Showcasing mobile-powered financial technologies transforming inclusion and economic resilience.
- Africa’s Digital Frontier – Celebrating the continent’s dynamic growth in digital sectors such as entertainment, healthcare, and e-commerce.
MWC Kigali 2025 is expected to attract thousands of delegates, exhibitors, and investors from across the world, reaffirming Rwanda’s position as Africa’s hub for digital transformation and innovation.
