Yesterday at the Kigali Convention Center, Prime Minister Dr. Justin Nsengiyumva hosted a vibrant thank-you bash to celebrate everyone who contributed to the success of the 2025 UCI Road World Championships (#UCIRwanda2025).

Reflecting on the historic event, Dr. Nsengiyumva remarked, “Hosting the 2025 UCI Road World Championships was no small feat. It took discipline, coordination, and belief that we could do it. And Rwanda delivered, not just for itself, but for Africa. This wasn’t just a sporting event. It was a celebration. A showcase of our ambition, our capacity, and our hospitality.”

The Prime Minister also acknowledged the energy and support of the fans, stating, “The Fan Zone was electric, mwarakoze kuza,” highlighting the vibrant atmosphere created by the spectators.

The 2025 championships marked a historic milestone as the first time the event was held on African soil.

The challenging course, featuring 5,475 meters of elevation gain over 33 climbs, tested the endurance of the world’s top cyclists.

Tadej Pogačar of Slovenia clinched his second consecutive men’s road race title with a remarkable solo attack, while Canada’s Magdeleine Vallieres secured a surprise victory in the women’s race.

The event attracted 108 nations, with 38 from Africa, marking the highest representation of any continent in the history of the championships.

The bash celebrated the collective efforts of organizers, volunteers, sponsors, and fans who played pivotal roles in making #UCIRwanda2025 a memorable and successful event for Rwanda and the continent.
