WAKA The FITTEST is returning for a second edition, promising to be bigger, bolder, and more impactful than its debut.
Organized by WAKA Fitness in collaboration with RSSB as part their health and wellness program as well as Fitness industry players such as SOHO Fitness, FitnessPoint, and Kigali Fit.
The event is designed to unite, challenge, and elevate Rwanda’s fitness community.
The competition will bring together participants from all levels, from beginners to elite athletes, with an expected turnout of 1,500 to 2,000 people—making it the largest fitness event in the country.
Open to gym members, trainers, and corporate teams, it will also feature workshops and interactive brand activations, offering both competition and community engagement.
“WAKA The FITTEST is designed to take the dedication and values we celebrate within our gym walls and share them with the broader community,” said Yvan Munyengango, CEO of WAKA Fitness.
“We want to provide a platform for people to experience the incredible things their bodies can do, while fostering a stronger, more connected fitness culture across Rwanda.”
The event takes place on October 11, 2025, at Zaria Court in Kigali and will test athletes across divisions from Beginner to Elite.
Challenges are built around strength, endurance, agility, and coordination, ensuring fairness for all levels.
This year, cash prizes total Rwf8,300,000, alongside gym memberships and exclusive gear for the top competitors.
Beyond the competition, the event resonates with Rwanda’s national health priorities.
Non-communicable diseases such as cardiovascular illnesses, diabetes, and cancers accounted for 47.7 percent of health facility deaths in 2024.
Rwanda has set a target of reducing premature mortality from NCDs by 25 percent by 2025, and physical activity is central to that strategy.
The focus on youth makes the initiative even more significant. With 70 percent of the population under the age of 30, promoting active lifestyles is essential for the nation’s future.
Regular exercise not only improves health but also helps combat stress, depression, and destructive habits.
Events like WAKA The FITTEST give young people a positive outlet, building resilience and social connection while replacing unhealthy routines.
By inspiring thousands of Rwandans to embrace fitness, WAKA The FITTEST is shaping more than athletes—it is helping build a healthier, stronger generation ready to lead the country forward.
