The Sixth Global Ministerial Mental Health Summit concluded in Doha after two days of high-level discussions focused on advancing global mental health.

The event was held under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The summit brought together ministers, state representatives, international organizations, and experts from around the world to address the theme “Transforming Mental Health through Investment, Innovation and Digital Solutions.”

At the closing session, it was announced that the Republic of Rwanda will host the next Global Ministerial Mental Health Summit next year.

Qatar’s Minister of Public Health, H.E. Mansoor bin Ebrahim Al Mahmoud, highlighted the outcomes of the gathering, noting that it reaffirmed a shared commitment to strengthening mental health at national, regional, and global levels.

“The priorities identified will help strengthen investment, innovation, and digital solutions, while ensuring equity, inclusivity, and greater cooperation,” Al Mahmoud said.

“This will contribute to addressing major global challenges in mental health and achieving sustainable improvements in services.”

The programme included two panel discussions, six workshops, and several side activities, with contributions from 64 speakers, both local and international.

Topics ranged from national policy development to rights-based approaches in mental health care.

The summit’s priorities align with broader global frameworks, including the UN Human Rights Council Resolution on Mental Health and Human Rights, and the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

Organizers said the outcomes are intended to support governments in translating international commitments into national action plans that deliver tangible improvements in mental health care.
