The Government of Rwanda has strongly condemned the recent strike carried out by Israel in Doha, Qatar, on September 9, describing it as a dangerous violation of international norms and a threat to global stability.

In a communique issued by the Office of the Government Spokesperson on September 11, Rwanda extended condolences to the State of Qatar for the death of its personnel and to their bereaved families.

Rwanda termed the strike a wanton disregard for foundational principles of interstate relations—warning it risks plunging the world into what it called a no-rules-based order.

The government also emphasised that there is no contemporary precedent for this level of escalation and cautioned that such behavior contributes to global chaos and uncertainty.

Rwanda criticized the continued escalation of violence in the region as senseless, faulting the international community for what it saw as hypocrisy and complacency—especially from the most powerful states—leaving the world increasingly vulnerable.

The communique also praised Qatar’s mediating role in some of the most complex conflicts across the Middle East and Africa, urging international appreciation and support for its efforts.

Reaffirming solidarity with Doha, Rwanda called for a principled, pragmatic, and swift resolution to the ongoing conflict, emphasizing the importance of diplomatic and mediated pathways toward stability.

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defended the strike, accusing Doha of harboring and financing Hamas.

He issued a stark ultimatum: “countries that host terrorists must expel them or bring them to justice—or we will.”

Qatar’s prime minister responded by sharply condemning the attack as state terror, accusing it of destroying any chance of releasing hostages.

He said the strike killed any hope for freeing the remaining captives in Gaza, and warned it severely damaged ongoing ceasefire and mediation efforts.
