MTN Rwanda has launched Tunga Taci na MTN, a new smartphone financing program designed to make device ownership more affordable and accessible to Rwandans.
Through the program, customers can acquire smartphones from leading brands such as Samsung, Tecno, Itel, and Infinix with an initial payment of just Rwf 16,000, followed by monthly installments spread over 12 months.
With only a national ID required, customers can walk into any MTN Service Centre or Yellow partner shop and walk out with a brand-new smartphone, paying through a flexible plan while immediately enjoying MTN’s network and bundled services.
The initiative is designed to address affordability, one of the main barriers to digital inclusion in Rwanda.
“At MTN Rwanda, we believe that everyone deserves the benefits of a modern connected life. With Tunga Taci na MTN, we are addressing one of the key barriers to digital inclusion: affordability,” said Somdev Sen, Chief Commercial and Digital Officer at MTN Rwanda.
“By providing customers with affordable smartphones, we are empowering more Rwandans to connect, learn, and thrive in the digital world,” he added.
Powered by Yellow’s tech-driven platform, the program ensures a seamless process from registration to repayment.

The launch comes at a time when Rwanda is experiencing rapid digital adoption, though device affordability remains a challenge.
By reducing cost barriers, MTN Rwanda and Yellow aim to expand smartphone penetration and support the government’s Vision 2050 agenda of building a digitally empowered, knowledge-based society where technology drives education, innovation, and inclusive growth.
Tunga Taci na MTN is now available at all MTN Service Centres and Yellow partner shops across the country.
